Wisconsin State Capitol from the Ice at Night The Wisconsin State Capitol This image was made at 300 mm, ISO 200, f/5.6. I scouted and predetermined my standing position via TPE (the photographers ephemeris) app (weeks before). Scouted in real time and in the daylight on March 4… …. ….and then trekked 1/2 mile out onto frozen Lake Monona at 4:30 am on March 5. It was so cold and the swishing sounds of loose snow over my boots combined with the eerie ‘gulping’ of shifting ice under me kept me in a psychological battle… Should I do the logical thing and turn back safe but defeated or venture onward….the adventurous, challenge loving side of me won out. ….so, At 2 miles to the East of the Capitol and 1/2 mile onto the lake I made this image at 5:09 am on March 5, 2015. Here’s the image … prints are available from my website: The Wisconsin State Capitol – Madison. 2 miles East of and 1/2 mile out onto the ice of Lake Monona. #lowlighting Share this:FacebookPinterestEmailTwitterLinkedIn Post navigation Atop Gibraltar Rockthe Omnipotent – Time Lapse Still of Lightning at Dusk Leave a ReplyYour email address will not be published.
